Guwahati: Ahead of the Assam Assembly elections due in March-April, the newly floated party Raijor Dal on Sunday announced a ‘proposed’ pre poll alliance by extending it’s will to join hands with Asom Jatiya Parisad (AJP) officially.
Announcing that the party has sent its proposal of alliance to Lurinjyoti Gogoi, Raijor Dal working president Bhasco de Saikia said, “Since we have adopted a common goal of uprooting BJP from the seat of power in Dispur, it is ideal we give a joint fight. Therefore, we have sent an alliance proposal to AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi and I’m hopeful of a positive response.”
The AJP has recently hinted at a possible alliance between the two parties when Lurinjyoti Gogoi said good news was in pipeline around Magh Bihu for the people of the state. Several AJP leaders had also attended Raijor Dal’s first state convention at Moran, recently.
The Congress has, meanwhile, forged an undeclared alliance with the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) for Assembly polls. The two parties have contested 20 of the Bodoland territorial Council elections seats in an alliance.
