GUWAHATI: The state health department has begun readying a complete database of health workers within this month to facilitate them with Covid 19 vaccines when available in the first phase.

The health department has estimated that the list of health workers would be completed by October 30.

Official sources in National Health Mission (NHM), Assam believed that a vaccine for Covid 19 would be available in early 2021 and as per the government’s direction, the frontline health workers would be the first to be vaccinated.

The list is being prepared so that the department can place its requirement before the concerned authority at the time of the release of the vaccine.

The department has also planned to carry out Covid-testing at the community-level in full swing from November and has planned to provide testing facilities at the community health centres (CHCs) and primary health centres (PHCs) level.

As per government guidelines- health workers, elderly patients with high comorbidities, cancer patients, etc, should be given priority during vaccination.
