    Assam records 2,595 new cases, 8 deaths; positivity rate spikes to 7.38%

    Assam recorded 2,595 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, to reach a tally of 1,55,453 cases. The new cases were out of 35,175 tests conducted in 24 hours

    GUWAHATI: Assam recorded 2,595 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, to reach a tally of 1,55,453 cases. The new cases were out of 35,175 tests conducted in 24 hours, taking the positivity in the state to a high of 7.38%.

    Kamrup (M) saw 533 new cases, followed by Jorhat at 205, Lakhimpur at 199 and Golaghat at 173 among others.

    Across the state, 1,856 patients were discharged on Saturday, and 8 people succumbed to COVID-19 related infections.

    Informing about the deceased, health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Very sad and anguished to inform that 08 more COVID19 positive patients have succumbed to the disease.

    My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief.”

    Meanwhile, the state’s overall COVID report stands at 1,55,453 total cases, 1,23,684 discharged, 31,218 active cases, 548 deaths and three migrated to other states.
