    Assam records increase of 2.46 % voters in final electoral roll-2021

    GUWAHATI: Assam’s final electoral roll of 2021 was published on Tuesday. The electoral roll recorded an increase of 2.46 % voters registered.

    State Assembly polls are to be held this year.

    As per the roll, the state has a total 2, 29, 92, 505 electors. While 1, 16, 56, 926 were male voters, the number of female voters is 1, 13, 35,579.

    Compared to the Final Photo Electoral Roll-2020, the state has registered an increase of 2.46 per cent voters, it said.

    Meanwhile, The Chief Election Commissioner of India Sunil Arora along with preparedness Election Commissioners of India Sushil Chandra and Rajiv Kumar reached the city on Monday with a three-day-long programme to review the poll preparedness for upcoming assembly election in the State.

    Immediately after their arrival, the Election Commission of India held a discussion with Nitin Khade, CEO, Assam and the Police Nodal Officer at a city hotel here.

    The Election Commission will hold meetings with political parties, election-related regulatory agencies, District Election Officers and Superintendents of Police, Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Director General of Police (DGP) and other senior officials during this visit.

    The Commission will also address a press conference at a city hotel on January 20.
