GUWAHATI: Assam recorded new 2,640 cases of COVID-19 on Monday, to reach a tally of 1,59,320 cases. The new cases were out of 35,603 tests conducted in 24 hours, taking the positivity in the state to a high of 7.42%.
Kamrup (M) saw 574 new cases, followed by Jorhat at 240, Lakhimpur at 206and Golaghat at 198 among others.
Across the state 1,795 patients were discharged on Monday, and 16 people succumbed to COVID-19 related infections.
Informing about the deceased, health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Very sad and anguished to inform that 16 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease.
My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief.”
Meanwhile, the state’s overall COVID report stands at 1,59,320 total cases, 1,29,130 discharged, 29,609 active, 578 deaths and three migrated to other states.
