    Assam records seventh COVID death

    A 53-year-old female who had recently returned from Delhi reportedly died of COVID 19 in Silchar

    Guwahati: Assam recorded its seventh COVID 19 death in Hailakandi district on Friday. The deceased was a 53-year-old female who had recently returned from Delhi.

    Sources said she was in home quarantine after she had reached her home at Silchar. But later she was taken to the Silchar Medical College hospital after her test came positive.

    Meanwhile the numbers of COVID positive cases in the capital city has been growing triggering paninc amongst the denizens here.

    On Friday, a constable of Assam Police has tested positive for COVID-19 here. The constable is from 8th Assam Police Battalion (APBN) at Abhayapuri under Bongaigaon district. He was in a temporary camp at Netaji Vidyapith Railway Higher Secondary School at Maligaon in Guwahati.

    Sources said that some 70 jawans were shifted to Guwahati from Abhayapuri to maintain law and order situation in the city. The rest of the jawans were currently undergoing tests.

    Assam has so far recorded a total 3430 COVID positive cases.
