Assam reports nearly 200 COVID-19 cases; biggest single-day spike of 2021
Guwahati: Assam’s COVID-19 tally has mounted to 2,19,027 as the state reported this year’s highest single-day spike of 195 fresh cases on Wednesday.
The daily fresh cases which have dipped below 30 in the last three months are showing an upward trend since the last week of March.
Kamrup Metro district reported the highest number of new cases at 104, followed by 19 in Dibrugarh, 16 in Kamrup Rural, 12 in Tinsukia, 7 in Sivasagar; 4 each in Barpeta, Jorhat, and Nagaon; 3 each in Chirang and Golaghat; 2 each in Cachar, Goalpara, Hojai, and Udalguri; 1 each in Baksa, Bongaigaon, Charaideo, Darrang, Dima Hasao, Hailakandi, Karbi Anglong, Karimganj, Nalbari, Sonitpur and one in others.
The fresh cases have been detected among 21,162 COVID-19 tests conducted across the state.
Assam has now 874 active cases, while 2,15,722 people have so far been cured of the disease, taking the recovery rate among the patients to 98.49%.
A total of 10.69 lakh people have been administered the first dose of the vaccine, while 1.84 lakh people have received the second dose.
