Assam reported one more novel coronavirus (COVID-19) positive case, taking the state tally to 31. The fresh coronavirus positive case has been reported from the Goalpara district.
Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the new case is the secondary contact of the Nizamuddin Markaz case.
“A person from Goalpara, and secondary contact of people associated with #NizamuddinMarkaz, has been confirmed as #COVID19 positive. The total number of #Covid patients in #Assam now stands at 31,” Sarma tweeted.
Assam has reported 31 positive cases for COVID-19 till April 13th, 2020 including nine cases from Golaghat, four each from Nalbari and Morigaon, Goalpara districts, three from Dhubri and one each from South Salmara, Kamrup (Metro), Kamrup, Karimganj, Lakhimpur, Cachar, and Hailakandi.
A patient from Hailakandi district succumbed to the infection at Silchar Medical College and Hospital on April 10th, 2020.
Sarma on April 13th, 2020 said that most of the 30 COVID-19 patients in Assam are recovering. The recovered patients are likely to be discharged from hospitals from April 15th, 2020 onwards.
The Health Minister further informed that of the 3,209 swab samples collected, 3,070 were found negative. “1,421 samples of contacts of Tablighi Jamaat attendees were collected, out of which 29 tested positive and1,358 tested negative. Test reports of 34 samples are awaited,” Sarma said.
