Guwahati: For the first time in the state, altogether 99 non-gazetted state government employees were presented with Lok Sewa Puraskar (Public Service Award) for their sincere, dedicated and exemplary service.
While 10 were felicitated at state level on Friday by the chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at a function marking the death anniversary of Assam’s first chief minister and Bharat Ratna, Gopinath Bordoloi, 89 others were awarded at district level.
Besides a citation, all of them were awarded with a reward of Rs 25,000 and an extension of one year of their services.
Sarma said that the felicitation was done in memory of Bordoloi who spent his entire life in public service and worked for a modern, developed and self efficient Assam.
During the selection process, the state level committee formed by the government scrutinised some 259 proposals received from 35 districts and 89 employees were selected out of them for the award.
