Assam: Schools start early in some districts amid heatwave conditions

Guwahati: Amid intense heatwave conditions, some districts in Assam have advanced the school timing and rescheduled the classes of all educational institutions from 7.30 am.

Instructions have been issued to educational institutions in Kamrup (Metro), Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and other districts of Assam to reschedule classes.

As per official, the school timing for LP Schools is from 7:30 am till 12 noon. For ME schools, the classes are scheduled to start from 7:30 am till 12:30 pm and the classes for the HS schools will start from 7:30 am and continue till 1:00 pm”

“This order comes into force with immediate effect and shall remain until further order,” official added.

Earlier last week, the Nagaon district administration rescheduled the timing of classes of all educational institutions both government and private to begin from 7:30 am.

Meanwhile, Assam, often counted as one of the states with pleasant climatic conditions, is reeling under intense heatwave conditions.

On Monday, the maximum temperature in Lumding was recorded at 39.4 degree C, while Guwahati recorded 37 degree C, Silchar 37.2 degree C, Tezpur 36.9 degree C, North Lakhimpur 36.6 degree C, Goalpara 36.8 degree C.
