Guwahati: The Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) on Sunday cancelled the Class 10 or HSLC General Science paper, which was scheduled to be held on Monday, March 13.
The official decided to cancel the exam after there were reports of the paper being leaked and was also circulated on social media.
However, the next exam date will be announced soon by the board, said official.
On Sunday, taking to Twitter, the Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu wrote, “General Science examination of the ongoing HSLC examination scheduled for 13/03/2023 has been cancelled by SEBA in view of media reports of leakage of the question paper. The next date will be announced in due course.”

As per the notice issued by SEBA, the reports of the paper leak were telecasted, and the model question paper was seen in the hands of a candidate. The minister stated that such reports can create confusion among students, therefore, it was decided to cancel the exam which will now be conducted at a later date.
They said that they may have a belief that such news may create confusion in the minds of the candidates and keeping in view of this, the examination of general science (C3) subject, which is to be held today is hereby cancelled.
They further added that SEBA has initiated an enquiry in this aspect and will take all necessary action.
Meanwhile, Assam’s Director-General of Police GP Singh tweeted that a criminal case has been registered and CID Assam will investigate the matter.
