Assam: Sherman Ali says “Main Jhukega nahi”; Seen at BJP meeting venue
Guwahati: The popular dialogue -“Main Jhukega nahi” (I will not bow down)- from the latest blockbuster movie ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, made it to Assam politics when suspended Congress leader and Baghbor MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed echoed the same dialogue during a function.
Ahmed who is known for his alleged ‘controversial’ statements and was suspended from the Congress party said, “Ho sakta hain mera saar kat jaye, par mein jhukega nahin (My head may be chopped by enemies but I will not bow down). I will never bow down to injustice,” the leader said.
Meanwhile, Congress party sources claimed that the party was likely to expel the rebel MLA, who was arrested last year after he termed the martyrs of the anti-foreigners’ movement (Assam agitation) as assassins following the Dholpur eviction of Darrang district where hundreds of migrant Muslims were evicted to free government lands of settlers.
Earlier, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) dissolved all committees of the party in Baghbar represented by Sherman in minority-inhabited Barpeta district.
On Saturday, interestingly, Sherman Ali was seen at ITA Machkhowa auditorium premise where state BJP was having a party meeting in presence of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
However, he claimed that he had just stepped in the venue to use the toilet and was unaware of the ongoing BJP meeting.
