Guwahati: To review the status of traditional cum green environment friendly firework industry at Barpeta, a team of State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) visited the industry on Wednesday.

The team headed by its advisor Mridul Hazarika, with other three members namely Guna Govind Das, Dwijendra Singha Hazari and Alakesh Kakati visited the site.

The team with Deputy Commissioner Munindra Sharma, DDC Diganta Das and SPO R Pachani discussed the various issues related to firework industries and also highlighted the problems of Brass and Bell metal industry of Sarthebari.

In the meeting, the DC requested the visiting team to make necessary appropriate steps to help the firework industries to sustain in the long run and also assured the team that the District Administration will help the industry at their level.

The advisor of SITA assured the district administration that he will apprise the vice-chairman about the matter so that SITA may look into the matter to uplift the firework industries and to sustain its unique traditional heritage.

He also said that in the near future they will visit the Sarthebari to have its own view on functioning of co-operative societies of brass and bell metal industry.

Later, the SITA team also visited the site of Firework Industry village with the officials of the District Administration.
