GUWAHATI: The small tea growers’ associations in Assam have demanded a minimum support price (MSP) for their production.
On Friday, state’s industries and commerce minister Chandra Mohan Patoway met the representatives of small tea growers’ associations of the state.
The association in a statement said that the meeting discussed in detail all the issues and challenges related to the small tea growers of Assam.
“We have demanded the state government to fix a fair price or minimum rate for the tea leaves,” said the association.
Assam small tea growers produce around 49 per cent of tea produced in Assam.
