    Assam spent over Rs 1000 Cr on Coronavirus

    Assam’s COVID 19 tally touched 2,16,063 on Tuesday with almost 97.99 percent recovery

    GUWAHATI: At least Rs. 1032.49 crore was spent on coronavirus related expenses in Assam so far. The expenditure also included National Health Mission (NHM)’s Rs 172 crore expense on COVID 19 related testing, and for purchase of life-saving drugs as well as on procuring protection equipment.

    Assam government informed the Assembly that Rs 513.61 crore was released to various districts for expenditure on infrastructure, activities and management related to COVID 19 ( Coronavirus ) treatment. Another Rs 4.15 crore was released to various medical colleges in the state.   

    Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a written reply said, “For transportation of patients and stranded citizens Assam government incurred Rs 44 crore. NHM released Rs 160.88 crores for the same reason.”

    On awareness and Information Education Campaign (IEC) activities, the state government expensed Rs 3.60 crore. Another Rs 7.03 crore was spent on human resources and Rs. 2.11 crores on administrative expenses.

    Sarma had said that Assam’s COVID 19 spread has slowed down and the situation was under control.

    Assam’s COVID 19 tally touched 2,16,063 on Tuesday with almost 97.99 percent recovery. At least 1040 people have died till the filing of this report.
