Guwahati: Assam sprinter Hima Das has been qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2021, and will represent India. However, formal announcement is yet to be made.
The Tokyo Olympics 2021 was scheduled to be held in 2020 but was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. It will be held from July 23 to August 8.
The 20-year-old Hima Das, popularly known as ‘Dhing Express’, is the reigning 400 m junior world champion and holds the current Indian national record in 400 meters with a timing of 50.79s that she clocked at the 2018 Asian Games in Jarkata, Indonesia.
Das is also the first Indian athlete to bag a gold medal in a track event at the IAAF World U20 Championships.
