Assam: Suspected Bangladeshi cattle smuggler shot dead by BSF at Indo-Bangla border

Guwahati: The Border Security Force (BSF) shot and killed a suspected cattle smuggler Bangladeshi national along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Assam’s Mankachar on Sunday morning.

According tosources, the individual was shot by the BSF while attempting to smuggle cattle from India to Bangladesh using a bamboo crane.

The deceased identified as Faridul Islam, residents of Rowmari in the Kurigram District of Bangladesh.

Early on Sunday, BSF personnel saw a few people trying to smuggle cattle through the border fence with the aid of a bamboo crane, said official.

During questioning them about their identities, the persons allegedly trying to escape from the location and to stop them from fleeing the place, BSF resorted to fire, official claimed.

Probably, one of them was hit by a bullet and was injured.

Despite the BSF’s best efforts, he succumbed to his injuries before the medical crew arrived.
