Tasa, Baishya Take Oath As Rajya Sabha Convenes 249th Session Today

The newly elected Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament from Assam, Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP)’s Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and Ason Gana Parishad(AGP)’s Birendra Prasad Baishya on June 20th, 2019(Thursday) took oath of the office at the 249th session of the Rajya Sabha.

Donning Axomiya Gamusa, both the MPs took oath in Assamese language as Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu administered the oath.

Addressing floor leaders of various parties in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha here today, ahead of the Budget Session of Parliament 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on leaders of all political parties in Parliament to work cohesively with the government in running the House smoothly and to collectively address issues related to the welfare of people.

The Prime Minister further welcomed the newly elected MPs and expressed hope that fresh zeal and energy would be infused in the functioning of the Parliament.

PM Modi urged all leaders to introspect whether members of Parliament are able to fulfil peoples’ aspirations as their representatives.
