Assam: 45-year-old man killed by wild elephant attack in Goalpara

Guwahati: A tea worker was trampled to death and four others were critically injured by a wild elephant in Assam’s Nagaon district on Friday.

The incident happened at the Hatigaon tea estate in Kaliabor.

The deceased has been identified as Laxman Minj. The four injured people are Prakash Ekka, Pratap Ekka, Dhiraj Tirki, and Shani Kerketa.

Workers were suddenly attacked by the wild elephant from behind when they were resting after a long day’s work, sources said.

Following the incident, forest officials reached the scene to take stock of the situation. 

However, the other four injured people were taken to the hospital for treatment. 

Sources claimed that the wild elephant had strayed inside the tea estate in search of food.
