Assam TET Recruitment Scam: CID files chargesheet; Accuses 33 teachers, govt staffs
Guwahati: Assam Criminal Investigation Department (CID) named 40 persons including 33 teachers as accused in the fake Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) teachers’ recruitment in the state’s Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).
As per CID while the teachers who got appointments based on fake TET pass certificates in the BTC area and remaining seven accused included a lecturer from a government affiliated college in Nagaon, three state government employees and three private persons.
The CID filed its first charge-sheet in the case on Friday before a lower court. The chargesheet was filed within 60 days from the date of registration of the case.
It may be recalled that based on the directions of chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, CID has bagun probing the TET teacher’s recruitment scam on October 3 against 36 accused persons.
CID, Assam conducted searches in Kamrup (Rural), Chirang, Udalguri, Nagaon and Hojai districts and arrested 33 teachers and seven others.
“The accused were thoroughly interrogated and remanded to judicial custody. Their bail petitions have been successfully opposed and all the 40 accused are still in jail. Investigation revealed that these teachers have fraudulently and dishonestly obtained fake TET pass certificates from the main accused by paying lakhs of rupees through the middlemen,” said CID.
