Guwahati: At least three persons including a child were killed in an explosion that occurred at a brick kiln in Assam’s Cachar district on Friday, said police.
Reportedly, the brick kiln which started its operation on Friday met with an unfortunate event when workers present there put fire in it to make bricks.
Police said that the kiln was located in the Kalain area of the district, some 30 km away from the district headquarters of Silchar.
Around 15 others suffered burn injuries. While one reportedly died on the spot, others succumbed to their injuries later.
The injured were rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) immediately. Police have started an investigation into the incident.
