Assam to have 4 new state-of-the-art veterinary hospitals for stray and pets

Guwahati: To address the issues of stray as well as pet animals in the state, Assam government has decided to open at least four new veterinary hospitals.

On Wednesday, reviewing the progress of the process with Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed the department to ensure the best of the treatments and response to the health of stray and pet animals in the state.

He also assured fulfillment of all requirements of the department in this connection.

Sarma said, “To provide best critical care to stray and pet animals, we are setting up four state-of-the-art veterinary hospitals in Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Tezpur and Golaghat.”

Animal lovers while welcoming the move also urged the chief minister to open a helpline to report any distress or accidents of stray or pet animals.
