Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, G P Singh applauded the traffic personnel attached with the Chandmari Police Station, Guwahati, who fined a legislator from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for violating traffic rules.
Duliajan MLA Terash Gowalla was fined for parking his vehicle in a ‘No Parking’ zone in Guwahati on February 25th, 2020. There were reports that Terash also misbehaved and assaulted the on-duty police constable, Bishnu Bora for locking the wheel of his vehicle.
However, the traffic cops of Chandmari Police Station stood their ground and issued a challan. Bora, who didn’t budge to any “threats and highhandedness”, later told reporters, “I locked the vehicle for parking it in a ‘No Parking’ zone. I was doing my duty.”
Singh took to micro-blogging site Twitter and shared a photograph of two traffic staffers of Chandmari Police Station who were on duty on February 25th, 2020. He complimented the traffic cops for “exemplary display of duty under trying circumstances”.
Netizens also praised the traffic cops for proving “rules are the same for all”. The social media users also appreciated Singh for recognising the effort of the traffic personnel, which they said will further boost the morale of the force.
Thank you sir. My respects for moral boosting your force
