Assam: Train mows down husband-wife in Kamrup

Guwahati: A man and his wife died after being hit by a moving train while crossing the railway lines at Khetri in Assam’s Kamrup district on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Rajwi Paharia and Chandrama Devi, residents of Khetri’s Senabor.

According to the sources, the duo was hit by the Kolong-Kopili Express at Khetri’s Ulubam.

The train was traveling to western Assam, sources added.

As per eyewitnesses, the couple was crossing the railway track together and hit them together.

Last month, three persons traveling in a car died after a train rammed into their vehicle at an unmanned level-crossing at Puranigudam Bikhoyachuk in the Nagaon district.

The victims died on the spot after being hit by a train on its way from Guwahati to Silghat.
