Assam: Truck with 40 cattle heads seized in Kaziranga, two arrested

Guwahati: The Assam Police seized a truck with 40 cattle heads and arrested two persons in Assam’s Kaziranga on Sunday.

The arrested persons were identified as Muhammad Mubarak Ali and Ankur Saikia.

Based on secret information, a team of police had intercepted a truck at Kohora under the Kaziranga area.

During the checking, the police team recovered 40 cattle heads from the truck.

As per sources, the cattle heads were being transported from Dergaon in Golaghat and was en-route to Sonapur.

Last month, Assam police seized a cattle-laden pick-up van on National Highway in Rangia and three suspects were arrested in connection with it.

At least 12 cattle heads were recovered from the van.
