Assam: Two devotees found dead in Cachar’s Bhuban Hills during Shivratri celebrations
Guwahati: At least two devotees were found dead under strange circumstances in Bhuban Hills, a 17th century Shiva temple in Cachar district, bordering Manipur during the Maha shivratri celebrations on Tuesday.
One deceased identified as Bikramjit Paul (42), residents of Silchar’s Bilpar area.
According to sources, Paul died while climbing up a hilly route in the Bhuban Hills, and his death is being suspected to a cardiac arrest.
Paul was taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital after his body was found and where he was declared dead.
In another incident, a lady was found dead near a temple in the Bhuban Hills.
As per sources, at the time of filing the report, her name and other information were unavailable.
Deceased body was sent to SMCH for a post-mortem examination, said official.
On Monday and Tuesday, nearly four lakh people flocked to Bhuban Hills for a traditional Mahashivaratri festival, official added.
