Guwahati: The Assam Police seized two trucks with 75 cattle heads and arrested two persons in Assam’s Nagaon district, the official said on Tuesday.
On Monday, acting on secret information, the police team of the Nagaon district intercepted a truck on National Highway (NH) 37 and recovered 75 cattle heads from the truck.
As per officials, cattle smugglers illegally transporting cattle from Bokakhat to Nagaon.
Taking to Twitter, Nagaon police wrote, “Today, SI Jyoti Boro, I/C, Bagori PP, and staff apprehend two cattle smugglers for illegally transporting cattle from Bokakhat to Nagaon and recovered 75 cattle heads. In this connection two trucks bearing Reg. No. AS25 EC1383 and AS02 AC6662 have been seized.”
The two arrested smugglers have been identified as Nurul Hussain and Wahidul Islam.
Meanwhile, a case under relevant sections has been registered against the persons and further investigation is underway.
