Investigation revealed that the duo was a part of international racket which has close nexus with fundamentalist groups based out of Bangladesh

Guwahati: In a gunfight between state police personnel and cattle smugglers, two suspected international cattle smugglers were gunned down on Monday night in Kokrajhar district.

At least four policemen also sustained injuries during the operation. Police also seized one AK 47 rifle, two magazines, and 35 rounds of live bullet from the deceased cattle smugglers possession.

The deceased were identified as Akbar Banjara and Salman Banjara who hailed from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.

Investigation has revealed that the duo was a part of international racket which has close nexus with fundamentalist groups based out of Bangladesh.

Police said that in exchange of cattle, the racket was using hawala money which was used in anti-India activities.
