Guwahati: A police sub-inspector and a former Home Guard was caught red-handed for allegedly taking bribe by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-corruption in Assam’s Dhubri district, official said on Monday.
The arrested SI has been identified as Rahizuddin Ahmed, is posted at Bilasipara PS in Dhubri. While, the former Home Guard identified as Sonaruddin Sheik.
As per official, on Sunday, the team laid a trap at the office of the accused and caught red-handed while taking bribe for sending case diary to court.
Taking to Twitter, the office of anti-corruption cell wrote, “Last night @DIR_VAC_ASSAM laid a trap in Bilasipara PS, Dhubri. Sub Inspector Rahizuddin Ahmed & Ex HG Sonaruddin Sheik have been apprehended for demanding & accepting bribe for sending case diary to court.”
In another incident, a Circle Inspector in Assam’s Baksa district was arrested by the sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption for accepting bribe.
The accused government official has been identified as Ganesh Barman, Circle Inspector at Simla, Baksa.
Barman was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 40,000 as bribe in his office from the complainant for giving relief to his relative in a criminal case, official said.
“2nd trap in last 12 Hrs! @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red handed Inspector Ganesh Barman, Circle Inspector, Simla, Baksa, after he accepted Rs.40,000/- in his office from the complainant for giving relief to his relative in a criminal case,” the anti-corruption cell tweeted.
