Assam witnesses slight dip in daily COVID-19 cases; reports 7,929 infections

Guwahati: Assam witnessed a slight dip in the daily cases at 7,929 on Thursday, bringing the total to 6,78,057. However, the positivity stands at 12.92%.

At least 12 more people died as a result of the disease, taking the death toll to 6,260.

Currently, the number of active COVID-19 cases is 41,118.

The new cases were found from 61,359 sample tests conducted on Thursday.

The Kamrup Metropolitan, which includes Guwahati city, had 1,716 new cases, while, Dibrugarh confirmed 486 new cases, Kamrup (R) 424 and Cachar 422, according to the state health ministry.

The death rate in the state currently is 0.92%, while the number of COVID-19 positive patients dying due to other reasons stands at 1,347.

A total of 1,960 patients were discharged on Thursday.
