Guwahati: A woman died of electrocution and her husband sustained major injuries in Assam’s Golaghat district on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Simpi Misong and her husband identified as Debokanta Misong, a resident of Bokial.

According to sources, the incident occurred when Simpi tried to switch on a light of a board, she got a jolt.

Meanwhile, her husband came to rescue her, and unknowingly, he too electrocuted and suffered severe injuries.

The couple was brought to the Golaghat Civil Hospital for treatment by the locals.

However, the doctors declared Simpi dead at the hospital.

Debokanta is undergoing treatment and his condition is stable now.

The body has been kept at the hospital for the post-mortem report.
