    Assam: Woman injured after trying to stop Himanta’s convoy

    The woman identified as Deepa Payeng, who have been serving as a teacher for past 20 years started to protest as she did not receive the appointment letter this time.

    Guwahati:  A woman was allegedly injured by Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s convoy after she tried to stop the minister from leaving.

    The incident occurred on Saturday, where the minister was distributing appointment letter to some of the teachers of the state in an ceremony held at Khanapara in Guwahati.

    The woman identified as Deepa Payeng, who have been serving as a teacher for past 20 years started to protest as she did not receive the appointment letter this time.

    Payeng started her protest in-front of Sarma’s convoy and was allegedly hit by it when she tried to stop the minister from leaving.

    After the accident, Sarma got down from the vehicle to inspect the lady and later sent her to the hospital in an ambulance.
