Assam: Woman killed by falling tree; Six month old’s Assam found in pond

Guwahati: In an unfortunate incident, one woman died and two others suffered serious injuries when a tree fell on them at Jorhtat’s Baruah chariali area on Tuesday.

Surprisingly, there was no storm or heavy wind gushing at that time when the incident occurred. The identity of the deceased woman was yet to be known till filling of this report.

Though she was rushed to the Jorthat medical college hospital, she did not survive. Locals blamed forest department of not maintaining proper surveillance over the trees in the area.

Though the area remains crowded, on Tuesday there were fewer crowds due to the Eid celebrations.

Meanwhile, in yet another incident body of the six month old infant was recovered from a pond near Kothal Pukhuri railway station in Lakhimpur district. A feeding bottle was also recovered.

Locals suspected that somebody might have killed the baby by throwing into the water body.
