Assam youth drowns in waterfall in Meghalaya’s Byrnihat

Guwahati: In tragic incident, a boy from Assam drowned after he fell into the water in the Ri Bhoi district in Meghalaya on Thursday.

The incident took place Byrnihat area in the district.

As per sources, at least seven friends, all students of the private institute of Meghalaya had gone to take a bath at a waterfall in Byrnihat when one of them slipped and fell to his death.

The sources said that the group embarked on a trip to Brynihat waterfall, intending to enjoy a refreshing bath to beat the heat.

Unfortunately, an accident occurred and despite efforts to rescue him, the tragic incident claimed his life.

The deceased has been identified as Rohan Gogoi, a resident of Garmari village, Nagaon district in Assam.

The deceased of the body has been recovered.

On April 16, a 17-year-old boy lost his life as he drowned in the Sela Wari river, located in the outskirts of Tura.

The deceased has been identified as Ezekial Ch Marak, hailing from Dobasipara locality of Tura.

The victim had gone to the riverside along with his companions to beat the heat wave that has been sweeping the Garo Hills region, when he was swept away by the strong water current.
