Assam’s First Everester Battling For Life, Appeals For Help


Guwahati, February 11, 2019

Mountaineer and the first climber from Assam to scale Mount Everest, Tarun Saikia is struggling for life following kidney failure. To support him tide through the financial crisis, he has appealed for crowdfunding his treatment via India’s largest crowdfunding site, Milaap.

Saikia hails from Guwahati and is a resident of Forest Gate, Noonmati. At the age of 37, he reached the highest peak on May 18th, 2013.

The mountaineer at this moment is suffering from kidney failure and requires dialysis regularly. With an impending kidney transplant, he has exhausted most of his funds. He is undergoing treatment in Apollo Hospital, Chennai.

Saikia participated in as many as 11 high altitude expeditions in India since 1993 and was an active member of several NGOs working.
