Assam's Hedayet Ali scales Mount Everest
He earlier climbed Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe, Mount Acconogua and Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa

Guwahati: Assam lad Hedayet Ali, a mountaineer who hails from Hajo, became the seventh Assamese to scale the world’s highest Mount Everest on Thursday morning.

Ali trekked from Lukla to Everest Base Camp and reached the top around 7.30 am on Thursday. This was the first expedition of the season to the Mount Everest.

Ali was a part of an international team comprising 11 other mountaineers. A software engineer based in California, US, he did his matriculation examination from Golapara Sainik School.

He earlier climbed Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe, Mount Acconogua in 2019 and Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa in 2018.

Guwahati’s Tarun Saikia was the first Assamese to scale Mount Everest on May 18, 2013.
