Guwahati: Assam’s favourite lemon to rock the markets of UK soon as the first consignment of Assam lemon has left for London on Friday.
The lemons were sent as a part of an export agreement between the state government and UK. The export was an initiative supported by district authority of Baksa.
Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the first consignment of Assam lemon for export to UK has been dispatched from Baksa.
“About 600kg of lemons have been sent as part of an export commitment by the producer at the rate of Rs 30 per kg for about 80 tonnes over the next two months from Gati, Salbari,” he added.
On Friday, the lemons were being delivered to Guwahati from where these will be sent to Delhi where these will be repacked and sent to London.
