    Avoid cooked food as ‘prasad’ on Biswakarma Puja: Kamrup Metro Admin

    GUWAHATI: In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and continuous rise in positive cases in the capital city, the Kamrup (metro) district on Wednesday restricted any kind of public gathering during the ‘Biswakarma Puja’ and ‘Mahalaya’ on Thursday.

    The metro district administration has only allowed 15 persons at a time in any puja locations by maintaining social distancing.

    The order said, “Construction of pandals and commercial stalls in public places including on roads will not be permitted. Special Lighting and use of the sound system will not be allowed to avoid the attraction of gatherings.”

    The district administration has also asked denizens to avoid cooked food as ‘prasad’ at the puja offering places. “Only dry Prasad may be distributed if desired. Devotees will use sanitizer frequently and will wear mask,” it said.

    No procession will also be allowed for immersion purposes as well as no cultural function will be allowed on Thursday.
