Babri Masjid demolition case verdict on Sep 30

GUWAHATI: A special CBI court hearing the Babri Masjid demolition case to pronounce its judgment on September 30.

Judge SK Yadav has directed all 32 accused including former deputy prime minister L K Advani and BJP leaders Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh, Uma Bharti and Vinay Katiyar to remain present in the court on that day.

Advani, Joshi and Bharati – key leaders of the BJP at that time, were charged with conspiracy that led to the demolition of the 15th Century mosque. Advani and Joshi aged 92 and 86 respectively, had recorded his statement in the case before the special CBI court through video conference in July.

The CBI counsel Lalit Singh informed that argument of the defence and prosecution concluded on September 1.

The investigating agency has produced 351 witnesses and around 600 documentary evidence before the court.

 The Babri Masjid in Ayodhya was demolished by karsevaks on December 6, 1992.
