Hours after ‘Krishna’ died in captivity, another elephant and her baby escaped death by a whisker in Guwahati’s Narengi area.

On November 17th, 2019 morning, the jumbo with her child entered in a human-inhabited area from nearby forest probably in search of food.  But unfortunately, their morning outing went wrong after they fell into a water tank. The wall of the tank was low and the jumbos got stuck into the water.

The forest officials along with local police and army personnel put their full efforts to rescue the elephant and its calf.

Hours after the elephants were rescued, Assam Forest minister Parimal Suklabaidya, said, “The officials prevented a possible bad news today by rescuing an elephant and a calf.”

Besides, talking about the death of ‘Krishna’ in Orang National Park, who killed five people in one night in Goalpara recently, the minister said, “It is hard to believe that ‘Krishna’ is no more. But, that is the truth.”
