    Baksa youth stitches poem in Gamocha; makes it to Assam Book of Records

    Jyotish was deeply influenced by the life philosophy of Srimanta Sankardev and decided to stitch the poem in the gamocha presented to him by his students.

    Guwahati: A youth from Baksa has successfully registered his name in the Assam Book of Records by stitching a poem of Srimanta Sankardev in a Gamocha (a traditional Assamese towel).

    Jyotish Sarania who is a teacher of Nalbari ME School stitched the immortal poem ‘Karatala kamala, kamala dala nayana’ by Srimanta Sankardev on a gamocha with needle and thread and made the record.

    Sarania obtained a diploma in Fine arts from Moidyashri Music College and was associated with picture painting. He was skilled in needlework too.

    Reportedly, Jyotish was deeply influenced by the life philosophy of Srimanta Sankardev and decided to stitch the poem in the gamocha presented to him by his students to keep their memory alive.

    Sarania completed the work on gamocha within 24 hours. Later, when his artistic works were sent to Assam Book of Records, he was given due recognition.

    The artists now eyes for the next level, that is to record his name in the Indian Book of Records.
