    Bank official arrested in fraud case

    A senior official of Punjab and Sind Bank has been arrested by the Bureau of Investigation (Economic) Offences (BIEO) in a fraud case

    Guwahati: A senior official of Punjab and Sind Bank has been arrested by the Bureau of Investigation (Economic) Offences (BIEO) in a fraud case.

    The accused, loan officer Bikash Chandra, in connivance with the branch manager of the bank (Disney Land branch in the Guwahati) has sanctioned a home loan of Rs 29 lakh on the basis of fake documents.

    BIEO arrested the accused from Gumtinagar near Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh where he was currently serving. The crime was committed in 2015.

    The bureau is looking for the borrower who has identified himself as Dhrubajyoti Talukdar, but investigation say he forged his identity.

    BIEO has taken up the case following an FIR by the zonal manager of the bank. The accused has been booked under sections 120 (b), 420, 406 and 409 of IPC.
