Bank Robbery Bid Foiled, 8 Arrested After Exchange Of Fire With Police In Arunachal Pradesh

Eight armed robbers were arrested after an exchange of heavy firing with the police near Bomjir area in the Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal-Pradesh.

Acting on a tip-off of the presence of suspected bank robbers of entering the Roing township area, the Lower Dibang Valley Police under the leadership of SP Sanjay Kumar Sain had put up a Naka checking at Meka tinali.  As per reports, around ten persons, five in a car and other five on three motorcycles ran through the naka despite being stopped by the police.

The five persons in the car fled towards Shantipur and were followed by Roing Police team apprehending them near the check gate. Gas cutter and other types of equipment used for committing bank and ATM theft were recovered from their possession.

Meanwhile, SP Lower Dibang Valley with the rest of the team followed the bike riders and intercepted them at Bomjir. On being stopped, the miscreants opened fire at the police, the police retaliated with fire and nabbed three miscreants. Three Chinese pistols, 12 live rounds were recovered from their possession. Two miscreants managed to flee from the scene.
