Kaziranga, January 13: Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte, better known as Mary Kom was left spellbound by the beauty of the Kaziranga.
It is the first time the ace boxer has visited Kaziranga. She also enjoyed an elephant safari in the Bagori range of the Kaziranga National Park on Sunday.
It may be mentioned, Mary has attained number one position in the International Boxing Association’s (AIBA) latest world rankings.
She defeated Hanna Okhota of Ukraine to win record-equalling sixth gold at the World Boxing Championship at New Delhi. Mary won the 48 kg light flyweight class to equal the record of Cuban legend Felix Savon as the joint most successful boxer (Men and Women) in the history of World Championships.
The 36-year-old will have to jump to 51 kg in pursuit of her 2020 Olympic dream as 48 kg is not yet included in the Games roster.
Mary, however, refused to comment on the ongoing protests across the Northeast against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
