Bengali student group demands action against Barak ‘black ink’ act
Guwahati: Condemning the act of pasting black ink on a government banner in Assamese language allegedly by the Barak Democratic Youth Front (BDYF), the Bengali Yuva Chatra Federation (BYCF) has demanded strict action against the perpetrators.
Subrota Lodh, president of Dibrugarh unit of BYCP suspected the involvement of ‘unknown’ forces in the entire incident.
He said, “This is an act of conspiracy by some malicious groups to create differences and trouble between various communities living in the state. Whoever lives in Assam is an Assamese by birth and he or she despite belonging to any community must identify himself or herself as an Assamese.”
Lodh asked the state government to find out the forces behind such act and to take strict actions as per law.
As per reports, the local Bengali body in Cachar earlier on Sunday demanded complete revocation of Assamese language in Barak valley during promotion and publicity of Government schemes.
They also demanded complete prohibition of Assamese language in the entire Barak valley as per the 1961 Bengali Language Movement of Barak Valley, Assam.
Already, various local group have objected to the act and police have also registered cases against them.
