Bhubaneshwar Kalita To Be Re-elected As Rajya Sabha MP

Bhubaneswar Kalita who recently joined the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) will be re-elected as the Rajya Sabha MP informed Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the ongoing session of the fourth NEDA conclave in Guwahati.

It may be mentioned that the former Congress chief whip in Rajya Sabha who resigned from the House on August 5th, 2019 opposing the party’s stand on the government’s decisions to scrap Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, joined the BJP on August 9th, 2019.

Kalita is the second Congress Rajya Sabha member after Sanjay Singh, a member of the erstwhile Amethi royal family, who joined the BJP. Kalitas tenure was slated to expire in 2020.
