Bidai, Batha Not Part Of SoO Agreement: Assam DGP Appeals Rebel Outfits To Lay Down Arms

Two prominent leaders of the banned National Democratic Front of Boroland(NDFB) are not a part of the group which has signed the tripartite Suspension of Operations(SoO) agreement with the Indian government and government of Assam, informed Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta on Friday.

G Bidai, NDFB Commander-in-Chief(C-in-C) and his Deputy B Batha are still active members of the insurgent outfit.

While talking about the government suspending their operations against the outfit and a group of cadres’ agreement on abjuring violence the DGP made an appeal to all the active rebel outfits to abandon the path of insurgency and join the peace process.

The top cop informed that along with Saoraigwra, 27 other cadres including NDFB general secretary B R Feranga and its finance secretary B Dwmwilu are a part of the group who have jointly decided to join the peace talks. The group has been kept at an undisclosed and safe location.

It may be mentioned that on January 16th, 2020 the Saoraigwra faction of the NDFB agreed to abjure violence and join the peace talks. According a tripartite SoO agreement was signed. The agreement was signed by Ashutosh Agnihotri, Commissioner & Secretary, Home & Political, Assam, Satyendra Garg, joint secretary (NE), MHA and BB Saoraigwra, President, NDFB-S.
