    NDFB-S Signs Tripartite SoO Agreement With Govt

    The Saoraigwra faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland, NDFB-S on January 16th, 2020 agreed to abjure violence and join the peace talks.

    The rebel group under the leadership of Saoraigwra signed a tripartite Suspension of Operations(SoO) agreement with the Indian government. “The National Democratic Front of Boroland(NDFB) under the leadership of Saoraigwra, President has agreed to abjure violence, come overground and join the peace process by being a signatory to the proposed comprehensive Memorandum of Settlement with Bodo organisations”, the agreement read.

    The agreement was signed by Ashutosh Agnihotri, Commissioner & Secretary, Home & Political, Assam, Satyendra Garg, joint secretary (NE), MHA and BB Saoraigwra, President, NDFB-S.

    On January 13th, 2020 reports surfaced that as many as 50 cadres of the NDFB-S left for India from their hideout in Myanmar. They were reportedly escorted by the Indian Army from the International border to an undisclosed Army base.

    Following the reports of the NDFB-S returning to their homeland, the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) welcomed the step of the government in bringing the “Armed Revolutionary faction to the mainstream”.

    Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) leader and Assam social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma too welcomed the move of the Bodo rebel outfit joining the peace talks with the Centre.
