Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb recently attended the 5th governing council meeting of NITI Ayog in the capital city and sought help to remove the trade barriers between Tripura and Bangladesh.

Appraising the state of being one of the best five performing states of the country in terms of the PDS, CM Deb made a list of its success achieved under the guidance of the BJP-IPFT government. The Chief Minister also requested the Centre to create new waterways between Tripura and the neighbouring country of Bangladesh in a move to boost trade and tourism in the Northeastern(NE) region.

Laying emphasis on the implementation of all the developmental projects, CM Deb sought financial support from the Centre’s PSUs and autonomous bodies Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund to create new infrastructure in the region.

The Chief Minister also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed on several issues related to infrastructure development, revenue generation and all the on-going development projects. Modi assured all possible help to make Tripura a model state.

Keeping in view of the monsoon season and stating that Tripura is a flood-prone state, CM Deb demanded an increase in the State Disaster Response Fund from the Centre.
