Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) MP Biswajit Daimary on March 23rd, 2019 trained guns at militant-turned-sitting Lok Sabha MP Naba Kumar Sarania and accused the latter of indulging in the politics of division and anti-development.

“In the last five years, Sarania only played divisive politics between the Bodos and non-Bodos. He has lost the faith and trust of the people,” said Daimary while addressing an election campaign at Tamulpur.

He added, “Sarania has done nothing for the development of the Kokrajhar constituency. We are leaving the University, he has not even worked towards the development of a single school in Kokrajhar.”

Former ULFA cadre and now sitting MP, Sarania will contest against BPF minister Pramila Rani Brahma. Sarania won as an Independent Candidate in Lok Sabha elections 2014.

Kokrajhar will go to polls in the third phase on April 23rd 2019. The constituency covers 10 assembly segments – Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar East (ST), Kokrajhar West (ST), Sidli (ST), Bijni, Sorbhog, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Barama (ST) and Chapaguri (ST) respectively.

While talking about the AGP-BJP-BPF alliance for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, the Rajya Sabha MP further asserted that his party’s candidate would win with a huge margin of votes from Kokrajhar.

“Sarania along with the United Peoples’ Party Liberal are spreading rumours against the BPF.  Sarania himself was a militant and still has possesses illegal arms,” added Daimary.

Independent candidate Sarania won the seat in 2014 defeating another independent candidate Urkhai Gwara Brahma by a huge margin of 3,55,779 votes.
